- Lead oxide in plasma display panels and surface conduction electron emitter displays used in structural elements, notably in the front and rear glass dielectric layer, the bus electrode, the black stripe, the address electrode, the barrier ribs, the seal frit and frit ring, and in print pastes. However, the leaded solder and lead which are used for plastics (including rubber), paints, and inks and which are classified at Level 1 are subject to the corresponding regulations. - Allowable concentration of lead as an additive in the following alloys: Type of alloy Allowable content of lead Steel Less than 0.35 wt% Aluminum Less than 0.4 wt% Copper alloy(including brass and Less than 4 wt% phosphor bronze) Solder Less than 800 ppm Allowable concentration: 1. Less than 50 ppm for plastics, rubbers, paints and inks. 2. Less than 800 ppm for other homogeneous materials if not be regulated in this specification. Standards for measurement: 1). Pre-conditioning * 1. An acid decomposition method under the existence of sulfuric acid or hydrogen-peroxide water (EPA 3050B) 2. A pressurized acid decomposition method done in a sealed container (EPA 3052:1996). * If precipitates (insoluble matter) are produced, dissolve them totally by taking some means (e.g. alkali dissolution). 2). Measurement methods Typical measurement methods are as follows: 1. Inductively Coupled-Plasma-Atomic (Optical) Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES, ICP-OES) (e.g. EN ISO 11885:1998) 2. Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) (e.g. EN ISO5961:1995) 3. Inductively Coupled-Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS) 3). Other measurement methods can be accept
ed if they are referred to latest version of IEC 62321 (IEC 111) corresponding section. Any one of the measurement methods above (except AAS) enables you to analyze cadmium and lead simultaneously. Note: Delta will not accept any other pre-conditioning method unless it is with specific approval. (e.g. EN-71, In-house)
