冠词是一种虚词，用在名词的前面，说明名词是特指的还是泛指的。冠词分不定冠词(TheIndefiniteArticle)，定冠词(TheDefiniteArticle)和零冠词(不用冠词)3种。a(an)是不定冠词，the是定冠词。

1.不定冠词

1)不定冠词表示“一”、“某一”这个概念，用于可数名词的单数形式。A用在辅音开头的词前，在以元音开头的词前要用an。

如：Maryisateacher.

2)抽象名词用来表示"人或物的某种品德、性质"时。如: Theconferenceturnedouttobeasuccess.

3)一日三餐前有修饰语时。如:

Oh,whatawonderfullunch!Ienjoyitverymuch.

4)在形容词最高级前表示"非常"时。如:

UnitNineisamostdifficultunit,butitisn'tthemostdifficultunit

2.定冠词

1)定冠词（the）特指某人或某事物，通常用来指说话双方都知道的或上文中已提到过的人或事物，也用来指世界上独一无二的事物。Icometomeetaplane.Theplanehasarrivedattheairportnow.

2)在发明物的单数名词前,既表示特指又表示类指时。如: AlexanderGrahamBellinventedthetelephonein1876.

3)在逢十的复数名词前,表示"世纪的某个年代"。如: HebegantolearnRussianinthe1950s.

4)在姓氏复数名词前用定冠词表示"全家人"或"夫妇俩",请务必注意谓语动词用复数。

如:TheTurnersaresittingatthebreakfasttable,talkingandlaughing.

5)表示"两者中比较……"时,用定冠词。如:

Whichisthelargercountry,CanadaorAmerica?

6)当月份、季节被限定性定语所修饰时。如: ThebuildingwascompletedintheSeptemberof1969,notinthesummerof1970.

1)一般用于专有名词和不可数名词（抽象名词和物质名词）前。如:China中国，ClassThree三班，paper纸,bravery勇敢。

2)名词前已有作为定语的this,that,my，

their,whose,these,some,any,no,each,every等代词时

3)泛指的复数名词表示一类人或事物如
