Snap Gear & Telegraph 船舶车钟是驾驶台与机舱联系用车的一种最重要的手段。船舶车钟一般来说有微速进、前进一、前进二、前进三、 驾驶室 Wheel House 停车、微速退、后退一、后退二、后退三共9种车钟。 如果驾驶台想用前进二，就把车钟推到前进二位置 向机舱发出用车指令，机舱下面就会听到铃声， 操舵装置，舵 Steering Gear 轮机员把车钟推到同样的位置铃声才会停止 (驾驶台和机舱的车钟铃声是同时响同时停), 罗盘方位盘， 机舱立即执行用车指令，把主机开到前进二。 Compass Card 平板罗盘 注意，在用车之前是要备车的，时间一般要求 [ k mp s] 提前40分钟，主机备妥后，驾驶员和轮机员 方向盘，驾驶盘 Steering Wheel 还要核对车钟的一致性。 每次用车指令的变换，驾驶台和机舱的控制室 都要求做记录，专门有车钟记录本。 Rudder Angle Indicator 舵角指示器 离港从备车开始一直记到海速(SEA SPEED) 。 [ r æ d ɡl nd ke t ] 2000年以后造的船舶大多车钟的变换会 Telegraph 船舶车钟 被计算机直接记录了。。样子也有变化了。

【Vessel is approaching the waypoint】 程序是：舰长喊“左满舵”;操舵兵复述“左满舵”; C: Starboard twenty! 待舵已经转到位时(从发出口令到调整到位，需要时间，反应慢), H: Starboard twenty! 再回令“满舵左”。

满舵，左、右车进二，是回令。上面的口令，都是舰长发出的。 因为船上很吵，所以操作兵(操舵兵、操车兵)要复述口令、回令。
