马骁副校长在西南财经大学国际计量经济学专题研讨会上的讲话

尊敬的各位嘉宾，老师们，同学们：上午好！

Distinguished guests, participants, ladies and gentlemen, Good morning!

今天，一批在国际学术舞台上卓有盛誉的计量经济学家远道而来，出席西南财经大学国际计量经济学专题研讨会，在此，我谨代表学校向各位嘉宾致以最热烈的欢迎！

It is a great pleasure today to welcome you here at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. We are honoured such a distinguished group of scholars participate in this International Econometrics Workshop.

在座诸君中，既有第一次莅临我校的嘉宾朋友，也有即将负笈我校的研究生学子，在此，请允许我向大家简要介绍一下我们的学校:

Some of you are here for the first time, and some are our prospective graduate students. Here, please allow me a brief introduction of the university:

1952年，中国进行高等教育改革，以1938年抗战内迁的上海光华大学成都分部校址为基础，合并了西南地区17所财经院校、综合大学的财经系科组建四川财经学院。

In 1952, this university was established by merging and restructuring business schools and departments of economics from 17 universities, named as the Sichuan Institute of Finance and Economics.

1980年，学校划由中国中央银行——中国人民银行主管，1985年更名为西南财经大学，1995年进入国家“211工程”重点建设，2000年，划归中国教育部直属。

Then in 1980, People’s Bank of China, took over the governance of the University and renamed it

as Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in 1985. Ten years later, it became one of the top 100 universities in China’s 211 Project, which is to build 100 first-class universities in the 21st century. The governance was then transferred to the Ministry of Education in 2000.

六十年来，我校逐步构建起以银行、保险、证券期货为核心，其他相关学科为支撑的大金融优势学科群，发展成为以经济学、管理学为主体，金融学为重点，多学科协调发展的高水平特色型大学和中国金融的人才库、中国西部的财经智库。

This university now has a national strength in finance, including banking, insurance, and securities. It’s also strong in economics and management, and has become a talent pool and leading think tank in western China.

近年来，学校坚持立足自身实际，紧跟世界商科教育的大趋势，大力推进国际化战略，尤其是将师资国际化视为迈向世界一流商科教育的重要依凭，采取超常规举措延揽人才：先后引进和培养“长江学者”5名，引进世界知名大学的全职海归博士90余名；

The goal of the University is to become an internationally reputable institute. It has been implementing an internationalization strategy in recent years, and has taken initiatives to recruit international talents. We now have around 100 full time researchers graduated from well-known overseas universities.

2006年9月，学校组建以“长江学者”甘犁为院长，以海外回国人才为主体的“经济与管理研究院”，建立了学术研究所需要的数据中心和相关条件，形成了一个“尊崇学术、开放包容”的学术氛围。

In Sep 2006, the Research Institute of Economics and Management was established. All its faculty members have received doctoral degrees from overseas universities.

同时，学校也努力搭建与国际相关学科领军人物交流合作的高端平台。蒙代尔、奥利弗·威廉姆森、詹姆斯·莫里斯、莱茵哈德·泽尔腾等诺贝尔经济学奖获得者和众多国际知名经济学家曾先后莅临我校讲经论道。

Meanwhile, the University has been very active in international cooperation. We are very honoured to have Nobel Prize winners Prof. Robert Mundell, Prof. Oliver Williamson, Prof. James Mirrlees, Prof. Reinhard Selten, and many other famous economists, to visit our campus.

今天，我们又很荣幸地迎来了彼得罗宾逊教授、罗宾希克斯教授、麦克宾得教授、朱塞佩卡瓦莱里尔教授、蔡宗武教授、李奇教授等国际计量经济学领域的大方之家。他们将就相关问题作专题讲演，让我们一起期待他们闪烁着智慧灵光的真知灼见！

Today, we are very proud again that we have Prof. Peter Robinson, Prof. Robin Sickles, Prof. Michael Binder, Prof. Giuseppe Cavaliere, Prof. Zongwu Cai, Prof. Qi Li, all world renowed experts on econometrics, here to share with us their ideas and insights.
