Tan Qianqiu was born in 1957 in Hunan province. After graduating from Hunan University, he taught politics in a middle school in Deyang city, Sichuan province. He had taught there for 27 years.He looked serious and was very strict with his students, but he loved them deeply.

When the Wenchuan earthquake happened, he was giving a lesson. At the moment the school building collapsed, he protected his four students with his body. The students were saved, but Mr. Tan lost his life.

I am deeply moved by his deeds. Mr. Tan was an ordinary teacher, but a great hero. I will learn from him. I will study harder and be a person ｌｉｋｅ him when I grow up.

Last week our school held an English week. It started on May 11 and ended on May 15. All the students, our English teachers and some American professors from Ningxia University took part in it. During the week, we sang English songs, ｊｏｉｎed in English speaking contests, put on short English plays, watched English films and guessed riddles in English. We became more interested in English and our speaking ability has greatly improved. As everyone knows, practice makes perfect. I learned a lot from this activity.
