Whole Person Education Experiential Learning Modules

1. Whole Person Education Requirements

Within the structure of the Whole Person Education (WPE) Experiential Learning Programme, 8

modules are grouped into 5 sections. Each module is worth one credit. Students should earn at least 5 credits, one from each section, in order to meet the minimum graduation requirements for WPE Experiential Learning.

In year 1, students take both University Life and Experiential Development. In year 2, students take one module from section 3 (Sports Culture or Experiential Arts) and one module from section 4 (Voluntary Service or Environmental Awareness). In year 3, students take Emotional Intelligence. Students who have satisfied the minimum WPE graduation requirement (i.e. they have completed 5 modules minus exempted modules, if any) are free to choose Adversity Management or any modules that they have not taken before, subject to the number of seats available. Grades attained for WPE credits are not counted towards GPA calculation.

2. Whole Person Education Exemption

Under the circumstances below, students may apply to the Academic Registry for exemption from certain WPE credits and thus fulfil the remaining credits within the minimum graduation requirements for WPE Experiential Learning Modules.

2.1 Students Transferred from another Institution with Direct Entry to Year 2 or 3 Transfer students with direct entry to year 2 are allowed to be exempted from the WPE sections in year 1. They should follow the sections offered from year 2 onwards.

Transfer students with direct entry to year 3 are allowed to be exempted from the WPE sections in year 1 and either one section in year 2. They should follow the section in year 3 and make up for the other section in year 2 which is not exempted.

2.2 Students Studying Abroad for a Semester or an Academic Year

Students studying abroad for a semester or an academic year are allowed to be exempted from the WPE section(s) in the semester or the academic year during their period of study abroad. They should complete the other sections within the minimum graduation requirements which are not exempted.

2.3 Students with a Disability

Students with a disability which prevents them from attending certain physical or psychical exercises of a WPE section may be exempted from these exercises or the entire section, subject to the provision of valid medical documents. 2.4 Students on Suspension

Students on suspension of study are not exempted from any WPE section and need to make up for the section(s) missed during their period of suspension.
