JinwookOh(S’08)receivedtheB.Sdegreeinelec-tricalengineeringandcomputersciencefromSeoulNationalUniversity,Seoul,Korea,in2008.Heiscur-rentlyworkingtowardtheM.S.degreeinelectricalengineeringandcomputerscienceatKAIST,Dae-jeon,Korea.

Hisresearchinterestsincludelow-powerdigitalsignalprocessorsforcomputervision.Recently,heisinvolvedwiththeVLSIimplementationofneuralnetworksandfuzzy

logics.

KwanhoKim(S’04)receivedtheB.S.andM.SdegreesinelectricalengineeringandcomputersciencefromtheKoreaAdvancedInstituteofSci-enceandTechnology(KAIST)in2004and2006,respectively.HeiscurrentlyworkingtowardthePh.D.degreeinelectricalengineeringandcomputerscienceatKAIST.

In2004,hejoinedtheSemiconductorSystemLaboratory(SSL)atKAISTasaResearchAssistant.HisresearchinterestsincludeVLSIdesignforobjectrecognition,architectureandimplementationof

NoC-basedSoC.

A 201.4 GOPS real-time multi-object recognitionprocessor is presented with a three-stage pipelined architecture.Visual perception based multi-object recognition algorithm isapplied to give multiple attentions to multiple objects in the inputimage. Hoi-JunYoo(M’95–SM’04–F’08)graduatedfromtheElectronicDepartmentofSeoulNationalUni-versity,Seoul,Korea,in1983andreceivedtheM.S.andPh.DdegreesinelectricalengineeringfromtheKoreaAdvancedInstituteofScienceandTechnology(KAIST),Daejeon,in1985and1988,respectively.HisPh.D.workconcernedthefabricationprocessforGaAsverticaloptoelectronicintegratedcircuits.From1988to1990,hewaswithBellCommuni-cationsResearch,RedBank,NJ,whereheinventedthetwo-dimensionalphase-lockedVCSELarray,the

front-surface-emittinglaser,andthehigh-speedlateralHBT.In1991,hebe-cameManagerofaDRAMdesigngroupatHyundaiElectronicsanddesignedafamilyoffromfast-1MDRAMsand256MsynchronousDRAMs.In1998hejoinedthefacultyoftheDepartmentofElectricalEngineeringatKAISTandnowisafullProfessor.From2001to2005,hewastheDirectoroftheSystemIn-tegrationandIPAuthoringResearchCenter(SIPAC),fundedbyKoreangovern-menttopromoteworldwideIPauthoringanditsSOCapplication.From2003to

2005,hewasthefulltimeAdvisortoMinisterofKoreaMinistryofInformationandCommunicationandNationalProjectManagerforSoCandComputer.In2007,hefoundedSDIA(SystemDesignInnovationandApplicationResearchCenter)atKAISTtoresearchanddevelopSoCsforintelligentrobots,wearablecomputersandbiosystems.Hiscurrentinterestsarehigh-speedandlow-powernetworkonchips,3-Dgraphics,bodyareanetworks,biomedicaldevicesandcircuits,andmemorycircuitsandsystems.HeistheauthorofthebooksDRAMDesign(Seoul,Korea:Hongleung,1996;inKorean),HighPerformanceDRAM(Seoul,Korea:Sigma,1999;inKorean),andchaptersofNetworksonChips(NewYork:MorganKaufmann,2006).

Dr.YooreceivedtheElectronicIndustrialAssociationofKoreaAwardforhiscontributiontoDRAMtechnologythe1994,HynixDevelopmentAwardin1995,theKoreaSemiconductorIndustryAssociationAwardin2002,BestRe-searchofKAISTAwardin2007,DesignAwardof2001ASP-DAC,andOut-standingDesignAwards2005,2006,2007A-SSCC.HeisamemberoftheexecutivecommitteesofISSCC,SymposiumonVLSI,andA-SSCC,andwastheTPCchairoftheA-SSCC2008.
