First of all, the necessary economic basis may be the hinge of any marriages, especially the happy ones. After the luxurious wedding, the marriage seems to be peaceful and tuneful if you have already had your own house and car; however, things won’t be so favoring. Each month you have to pay for the maintenance costs of your supplies, the utility bills, property management fees and so on. Shortly after the marriage, you will have your lovely baby and, no doubt, with various related problems. A recent survey reveals middle-income families with a child will spend about 100,000 yuan raising the child through age 18 in China. If you don’t have a sufficient economic and mental capability, you might go through some conflicts and quarrels in your daily life, which makes you feel less satisfied and happy. As is seen, economic factor is quite important in happy marriage.

Another undoubted element of happy marriage is the mutual tolerance, which is quite difficult to achieve. Youths from one-child family are always ignoring others’ thoughts and opinions, and it is harmful when they bring those bad manners to their marriage. Several years ago there was a hot TV serial about a young couple. They loved each other and got marriage after falling in love for 3 months; but a trivial matter led their marriage to the end: the husband snored noisily every night. It seems unimaginable to happen, but such things exist around us more and more frequently. In 2011, the divorce rate in some well-developed cities of China was as high as 30%, and more than half of the divorce cases were resulted from the intolerance with spouses’ shortcomings. Nobody is perfect and makes no mistake on earth, so learn to tolerate your consorts’ mistake is a significant lesson for happy marriage.

Besides economic basis and mutual tolerance, another important substantial in a happy marriage is to be sincere. To be sincere means to exchange your viewpoints, perspectives and notions frankly. Just take the movie Enchanted for example. The heroine Giselle is searching for her true love. She smiles to her life, even if it is unfavorable; she talks to the strangers, even if they are the beggars or the ballad-mongers. She sings the lyrics:” if he loves you, he’ll find his own way to tell you, with the little things he’ll do; he’ll find a new way to show you, a little bit everyday; that’s how you know he’s your love.” Exactly as she says, when you have different thoughts, point out the divergences and find a compromising method; when you notice some mistakes made by your partner, throw out a suggestion or a criticism suitably; when you feel angry, or feel upset about something, don’t conceal your emotions to your spouses because this is also a kind of dishonest and insincere. If you accomplish to be sincere and genuine, your spouses will trust you, and your marriage will be steady and candied.

To summarize, the economic foundation, the reciprocal toleration, and the indispensable sincerity are the three underlying dimensions of happy marriage. These characteristics help lead a harmony, long-lasting happy matrimonial cohabitation.
