50 years’ growth of China’s space programThe space program of the People's Republic of China, currently undertaken by CNSA, was initiated soon after the country's founding in 1949. In 2003, Yang Liwei became the first man sent into space by the program, and his mission, Shenzhou 5, made China the third country to independently send people into space.
