Journey down the Mekong2. …then she persuaded me to buy one. 然后她说服我买了一辆(山地车)。Persuade sb.(not)to do sth. Persuade sb. into(out of) doing sth. 说服，劝服某人(别)做某事 e.g.王坤说服不了他姐姐改变主意。 Wang Kun couldn’t persuade her sister to change her mind.

Journey down the Mekong3.Wang Wei soon get them interested in cycling too. 王薇很快使他们也对骑自行车感兴趣了。 Get them interested 使他们感兴趣 Get在此处是使役动词，表示“使得”。 “get +宾语+宾补”结构中作宾补的如果不是谓 语动词：现在分词(V-ing)与宾语之间是主谓关 系，过去分词(V-ed)与宾语之间是动宾关系， 动词不定式(to do)表示事情还没做。

It was my sister who first had the idea to cycle along the entire Mekong River from where it begins to where it end.首先想到沿湄公河从源头到终点骑车旅游的 是我姐姐。 “ It is/was +被强调的部分+that/who +句 子其他部分”是强调句式。It was a Mexican who bought our old car last week. It was last week that we sold our old car to a Mexican.

Journey down the Mekong5.I’m fond of my sister but she has one serious shortcoming.我很喜欢我姐姐，但 她有一个严重的缺点。Be fond of: have a great love for sb. or sth. 喜欢，喜爱 她虽然有很多缺点，但我们都很喜欢她。 She has many shortcomings, but we are all fond of her.

Journey down the Mekong6. Although she didn’t know the best way of getting to places, she insisted that she organize the trip properly. 虽然她对去某些地方的最佳路线并不清楚，她却 坚持要自己把这次旅游安排的尽善尽美。Insist 做“坚持要求”的含义时，后面的从句经常用虚拟语气， 动词用should+ V原型 构成，其中的should可以省略。类似 动词还有：determine, order, request 和suggest等。

我坚持要他学医，不学法学。I insist that he (should) study medicine instead of law.

“主语+be+adj. + to do”结构English is difficult to learn well in a short time.

Journey down the Mekong10. It becomes rapids as it passes through deep valleys, travelling across western Yunnan Province. 穿过深谷时，它就变成了急流，流经云南省西部。 句中划线部分为V-ing形式作状语，伴随主句的谓 语动词become同时发生。 V-ing形式作状语时， 其逻辑主语就是句子的主语，且表示动宾关系。
