Seemingly, the adoration of heroism value is positive, but the connotation of this phenomenon is that American must possess mighty sense of crisis. Having been experienced the radical changes like Westward Movement, American Independence War, World War II and the attack of terrorist in September 11, 2011; they lucidly realized that they lived in an uneasy turbulent society. Hence, a series of disaster movies emerged. The Day after Tomorrow and 2012 both describe the serious aftermath of nature disasters that clearly embody the worry about environmental change. Pearl Harbour and Saving Private Ryan are classical war movies that incarnate the fear of battle.

With the development of science and technology, the concern of technical crisis seems inevitable. The potent effect of science actually brings unprecedented reformation to man s daily life, like prolonging man s average longevity or exploiting the sustainable resources. Yet it also stirs series of calamities like the leak of the nuclear energy and deterioration of nature environment. Thus, Matrix, Resident Evil and I am Legend, which the audiences are familiar with, are all specific manifestations of the perilous consequences about abuse of science.

Fortunately, with such permanent crisis awareness, Americans are still optimistic and do not lose faith to miracle. At the bottom of heart, they are the most nervous type of people who long for the existence of heroes, so that they devote such plenty of fund to envisaging a virtual but hardy heroes like Batman as their saviour to make up their insecurity and give them transient peace.

4 The Cultural Impact of Heroism

There are massive and complicated causes of heroism on the basis of the above analysis. It is still the vital and indispensable part consisting of American values. Recently, with the rapid development of globalization, and the integration of manifold culture values, this kind of value cross the country boundary by means of movie or

other mass media. “In addition, since China becomes open to the world, more and more Hollywood movies are introduced” (Yang Jie 59). In this case, heroism, without question, has made huge differences not just popular in American, but also in China.

4.1 Positive Influences on America and China

As an old saying goes: every coins has two sides. Heroism has no exception. To the majority of Americans, heroism truly has big affection on American society. On the one hand, it is making a great contribution to encourage and inspire Americans to not just indulge in their worries if they intend to pursue the hard-earned freedom and individualism. On the other hand, it provides for American a brilliant American dream and a fair competition stage as long as they can make hard effort to aspire their ideal, just like those fictitious heroes that can achieve their dream through diligent and assiduous work.

China, as such a potential and prospective market, cannot overlook the shocked after-effect taken by the swarming of American heroic movies. Import American heroic movies really bring affirmative effect in China. Those elaborate special effects give spectators an audio-visual shock with exciting blast and chaste scenes. In addition, it enlightens our Chinese producers that the movie is more than a simple article creation: it is a perfect industry chain including shoot, light and post production. Consequently, the promotion of special effect is necessary. And it is gratifying that Chinese movies have already made huge progress in the past few decades. From another perspective, those heroic movies may transcend the realistic realm but simultaneously it can guide us to comprehend the civilization and the conception of America, which will further enhance cultural amalgamation.

4.2 Negative Influences on America and China

Referring to the negative influences, it is obliged to mention violence. The shooting accident in Denver was universally known to the whole world. It was such a pathetic tragedy that it caused 12 died and 58 injured. It is reported that the perpetrator is a fanatic fan of Batman, who tried to imitate one of the villains in the movie. The enthusiasts about heroic movies may contain immature adolescents and extreme supporters who can not control themselves to emulate those endangered scenes. Their hunger for excitement is harmful for their physical and mental development. Worse still is the destructive impact on society.

The high frequency of drug, wine and sex scenes is one factor that can not be neglected and these plots have greater influence in China than in American. In American movies, both male and female heroes are chain-smokers. “Smoking is regarded as fashion, winning over a lot of people, especially the young” (He Yanhong 106).
