1. General

1.1 Operation environment

The tank containers are suitable for the transportation of bulk cement or coal powder by rail, road and ship. All materials used in the construction shall withstand extremes of temperature range from -19° to +80° without effecting on the strength of the container. In the tank none pressure exits in the course of the transportation of bulk cement and lifting methods mentioned below.

1.2 Standard and Regulations

This container will comply with the following requirements and regulations, unless otherwise mentioned in this specification.

1.2.1 ISO/TC - 104

ISO668 - Series 1 freight containers - classification external dimension and rating.

ISO6346 - Series 1 freight containers - coding, identification and marking.

ISO830 - Terminology in relation to freight container.

ISO1161 - Series 1 freight containers - corner fittings specification.

ISO1496/3(Edt1995) - Tank container - test specification.

1.2.2 T.I.R Certification

All the tank containers will be certified and complied with “The Convention on the International Transport of Goods under the cover of T.I.R Carnets.” or “The Customs Convention on Containers.”

1.2.3 C.S.C Certification

All the containers will be certified and complied with the requirements of the “International Convention for the Safe Containers”.

1.2.4 Classification Society

All the containers will be certified for design type and inpidually inspected by classification society - CCS. (China Classification Society)

1.2.5 ASME Standard: American Society of Mechanical Engineers / DIV.1 of the part VIII. (where application)

1.3 Handling

These tank containers will be constructed to be capable of being handled without any permanent deformation under the following conditions:

1.3.1 Lifting, full or empty, at top corner fittings vertically by means of spreaders fixed with hooks, shackles or twist-locks.

1.3.2 Lifting, full or empty, at bottom corner fittings using slings with terminal fittings at any angles between vertical and 45 degrees to the horizontal.

1.4 Transportation

These tank containers will be constructed to be capable of being without permanent deformation under the following conditions:

1.4.1 Marine: in the ship cell guides of vessels, seven (7) high stacked (Max. gross: 24,000kg). on the deck of vessels, four (4) high stacked, and secured by wire lashings.

1.4.2 Road: on flat bed or skeletal chassis, secured by twist-locks or equivalent at the bottom corner fittings.

1.4.3 Rail: on flat cars or special container cars secured by twist-lock or equivalent at the bottom corner fittings.

Note: Impact test is not carried out; the transportation of the containers on railway must be approved by competent authority.

1.5 Corner protrusion

1.5.1 The upper faces of the top corner fittings will protrude above the highest lever of the manhole cover of the tank by 6mm.

1.5.2 The lower faces of the bottom corner fittings will protrude from lower face of the tank bearing plates by 25mm.

1.5.3 The outer side faces of the corner fittings will protrude from outside faces of the corner post by 4mm.

1.5.4 For the containers under the condition such as the load equal to 1.8R-T is uniformly distributed, no part of the base of the container will deflect by more than 6mm below the bottom faces of the bottom corner fittings.
