We have more interesting activities in our own festivals than those in western festival. For example, in Spring Festival, we can light firecrackers , pace red couplets, receive lucky money and so on. On Mid-autumn Festival, it’s a chance for us to get together with our family to admire the moon and eat moon cakes. Celebrating western festivals can distract us from our own festivals. Korea robbed the patent of Dragon Boat Festival from us China due to our unconcern. We celebrate Dragon Boat Festival to honor Qu Yuan from ancient time. What makes us regretful is that Dragon Boat Festival doesn’t belong to us any more. It’s high time that we should protect our own festivals, which means to protect our national culture. If a country doesn’t have her own culture , she will be controlled by other countries.

Most teenagers celebrate the western festivals just because of following the majority. They don’t even know the origins of them. Why do you say it help us broaden our horizons? If you have time to know about the origins of western festivals, why don’t you spend time celebrating Chinese festivals to know more about the origins of Chinese festivals and our Chinese culture.

As we all know, foreigners advocate to live a low-carbon life. However , on Christmas Day, most Chinese teenagers spend money on some onetime Christmas gifts, such as plastic Christmas trees, fluorescent bars(荧光棒), cards, which do harm to our environment.
