Abstract:Thetimesynchronizationforthesmartgridmusthavehighaccuracyandhighsafety．Accordingtothisrequirement，atimesynchronizationschemeforsmartgridwasgiven．Inthisscheme，thepowersystemtimesynchronizationtechnology，inwhichtheBeidou/GPSdualmodetimingandtheprotocolIEEE1588arecombined，wasadopted．Accordingtothediffer-encesofoperationmodeanddesiredtimingaccuracy，differenttimesynchronizationconfigurationschemessuitableforthemas-terstationandsuitableforsubstationsweregivenrespectively．Thenthetimesynchronizationofwholesmartgridwasrealized．Keywords:smartgrid;Beidounavigationsatellitesystem;globalpositioningsystem(GPS);dualmodetiming;timesyn-chronization
