The Big Island

Everyone knows that Hawaii is a beautiful group of islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. But did you know that “Hawaii” is both the name of the state and the name of the biggest island in the state? Yes, it’s confusing, so most people call the island of Hawaii, “the Big Island.”

The weather on the Big Island is very interesting. It has ten of the fifteen kinds of climate in the world, including tropical, desert, mountain and alpine. Sometimes, it even gets snow on top of its two biggest volcanoes!

On the west side of the island, the weather in sunny Kailua Kona is almost perfect.
