Tom said "I'm Tom what's your name ?" " I'm Beth." "Oh Beth ,can you be my friend ?" "Ok , I'd like to make a friend with you." Then Tom chimbed up the tree, and caught the bird,

Tom was going to eat it.The bird was very angry, " Stop Tom !" Tom stopped eating.

The bird said " Do you know no gentleman eats his dinner until he had finished washing his face?"

Tom was very surprised to hear that. He began to wash his face with his paw(2). Of course this time the bird flew away, and said to Tom "__________________"

The bird flew away ,and Tom jumped down from the tree .

MiMi said to Tom "did you eat it?" “No." "What? Why ? "

The bird is very thin and awful ." “Oh , I know. But you are a cat ,and

you are so hungry ,you can eat it . Why don t you eat it? Only because it s awful?” “ No, because the bird said to me no gentleman ate his dinner

until he had washed his face. I washed my face , and it flew away.”

“ Maybe the bird said to you that you were foolish.” Tom was very angry
