Installation Instructions for ComfortCools

The installation instructions described in this guideline have to be accurately observed. Only qualified and trained personnel are allowed to install ComfortCools elements. Incorrect installation may reduce the reliability of the system and cause risk for persons.

Make sure that only components supplied by W.E.T.

and released for the respective product are used for the installation of ComfortCools elements since these components are adjusted to each other. Otherwise malfunctions or breakdown of the heating or climate system are possible.

The ComfortCools element has to be used in the appropriate vehicle / seat.

The trim bag has to be installed wrinkle-free and without creases which could interfere with the ventilation. When unwinding the trim bag up to 90°, a minimum radius (inside radius) of 15 mm has to be kept. When unwinding up to 180°, a minimum radius (inside radius) of 30 mm has to be kept.

The areas of the foam to which the component will be adhered have to be clean and free of grease.

It is strictly forbidden to prepare the surface of the foam to which the component will be adhered with anti-friction spray, separating agent, or silicone.

The adhesive foil has to be fixed with sufficient contact pressure (surface pressure). The adhesive needs several hours to develop its full adhesive strength.

Make sure that an element which was already stuck on the foam is not detached from the foam and stuck on again. The adhesion has to be free of wrinkles.

When fixing the supplied system components with self adhesive tape you have to consider following:

The harnesses must be laid in a way that they can not be damaged by mechanical load. When laying the harnesses you have to pay attention that they are not damaged due to bending or rubbing on sharp edges. The connection to the heating element must not be exposed to permanent excessive tension.

It is not permitted to change or cut the ComfortCools element. Make sure that the cabling is not changed.

The ComfortCools element must be operated with the stipulated operating voltage.

10. Make sure that no part of the heating element of ComfortCools trim bag elements with carbon heater has contact to metallic

components (contact to ground). Exception: the ComfortCools trim bag element is separately insulated at this point.

11. Make sure that the ComfortCools element is not damaged during installation. Damage is frequently caused by upholstery clips, auxiliary

tools, sharp-edged bars, etc.

12. The harnesses must not be exposed to excessive tension during installation (e.g. transport of the element by holding it at the harness).

13. It has to be ensured that supplied electronic controllers are not damaged by ESD during installation. Adequate protective measures

against ESD have to be taken.

14. During installation the workplace has to be clean, since dirt (fibers, remnants, spray adhesive) can interfere with the ventilation function

of the ComfortCools trim bag.

Connection of blower to tail

15. The blower of the ComfortCools element has to be installed without mechanical load since this can result in noises, reduced blower

performance, and reduced life-time. Make sure that the air exit area is not obstructed.

16. The installation has to be carried out according to the assembly drawing of the seat or to the installation guideline (W.E.T. can support

the preparation of such a guideline). These documents include the accurate position of the ComfortCools element in the seat with corresponding tolerances. Description of fixation is also included in these documents.

17. Make sure that the blower is not dropped or allowed to fall, since it can be damaged.

18. Don't put your hand into the blower wheel (through the air exit) since this might damage the blower. During blower operation, contact to

the blower wheel can result in injury of your fingers.
