Minitab History Dr. Barbara Ryan, a statistics professor at Pennsylvania State University, wanted to teach her students the concepts of statistics, but she could not find a statistics program for her students, ---- so she created a statistics program, and called it“Minitab”. After students graduated, some wanted to use Minitab at their new jobs. Word spread to other universities and demand grew. ****BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY!!**** In 1972, under an initiative in Pennsylvania to foster small businesses, Minitab became a company on the campus of Penn State University. In the September, 2004 issue of Quality Magazine issue, an article listed the top 100 companies in Quality. All 100 of them are using Minitab. Minitab for Excel Users Caution: Calc in Minitab is not the same an Excel formula.– Only the result of the formula is copied into the Minitab worksheet. If the data is changed the results DO NOT change, and your data is corrupted. For instance:– Calc/Row Statistics to create Sum columns C4 and C5 into C15– Change a few numbers in C4 column– The sums in C15 do not change– The process must be repeated to update the sums

Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) is used to create recalculating columns.
