Genetically modified food

Genetically modified food(GMF) refers to the food using genetic engineering (GM) technology in the species genome(基因组；染色体组) to embed(嵌入) in heterologous 1异种的)gene,including transgenic(转基因的； ( 基因改造的)plants,genetically modified animal,and genetically modified Microbial(微生物的) food.

The 1st kind GMF：

transgenic(转基因的；基因改造的)plants food

For example,transgenic wheat can provide higher protein than normal wheat,which makes the bread baking has better performance and taste.

The 2nd kind GMF

Genetically modified animal food Genetically Animal modified food also has a lot of kinds. Reality for example,the milk of transgenic cattle contains special gene drug,it can be used in the treatment of human diseases.

Creativity

By embedding human's auxin(生长素) gene in a pig's genome(基因组；染色体 组), the growth rate of pig will double,and the quality of pork raise higher than normal one.

Genetically modified microbial food Genetically engineered(经遗传工程处理过的) microorganisms(微生物) is easier to ext cultivate(培养). For example,the curd(凝乳) enzyme(酶),a material to produce cheese,could be only taken out from a killed cattle ever.Now,the use of transgenic microbial makes the production of curd enzyme in vitro(试管) possible,which avoids innocent death and reduces cost.

Genetically modified special food The scientists use biological genetic engineering to transforme fruits, vegetables , grain and other crops into “vaccine food（疫苗食物）" that can prevent disease.

The advantages of genetically modified food 1.High nutrition An estimated 30% of the world population are in iron deficiency,through transgenic technology,the content of iron in rice will increase

2.Special immune value By embedding(嵌入) special anti-cancer gene in plants and making it expressed,the plants will become a vaccine against corresponding(相应的) disease.

3.Improving taste some fruit and vegetables are nutritious(有营 养的),but taste is bad.Through genetic engineering ,scientists can produce more delicious plant products,which is beneficial to human and the development of food industry.

4.Improing food quality

it is difficult to keep the fruit too long,the genetic engineering,for one,makes it possible to extend storage time,for another,increase the drought(抗旱) resistance of plants in some areas that is out of water supply.

The disadventages of genetically modified food

transgenic food may produce potential biological mutations(突变) and new toxin （毒素）in food,in addition,scientists haven't conducted security test on people for long,which means maybe not everyone suites for transgenic food
