Teaching Objectives：

1. Enable students know the pronunciation of “ ar” and “al”;

2. Make students can sum up regulation of the pronunciation of “ ar” and “al”;

3. Can write the words by reading and listening the tape.

3. Cultivate the students language learning skills and enhance their interesting in English;

Teaching Important Points and Difficult Points:

1. Important Point: regulation of the pronunciation of “ ar” and “al”;;

2. Difficult Point: the regulation and the words writing

Teaching Procedures

Step1 Warm-up and Revision

1. Enjoy a phonics song, which aims to let students be familiar with phonics.

2. Introduce one of my friends to students. Through the introduction, we can review how to describe someone.

Step2 Presentation and Practice

1. Talk about my friend, and let students see four words: Mall, tall, ball and wall.

2. Discuss in pairs. What are the same?

3. Guide students summary the regulation of “al”.

4. Play a drawing game.

Draw a ball.

Draw a small small ball.

The ball is near the car.

Where are the ball and the car?

They re on the card.

This game can let students review “al”, and there is another aim, which gives way to the following content:”ar” by car and card.

5. Enjoy a chant to know the pronunciation of “ar”.

6. Present and combination of “ar” words.

e.g.: arm, farm, harm, bark, park…

7. Spell game. To review the “ar” and “al” words. Some words will appear at the following story.

Step3Consolidation and Extension

1. Read, listen and chant.

2. Listen and number.

（1）Invite some students to read these words.

（2）Play the tape, and students number the words that heard.

（3）Check the answer.

（4）Whole class read these words together, consolidate the pronunciation of “ar” and “al”.

3. Guessing game.

Words with zombies! It aims to judge whether students master the regulations. 4.

(2) Listen, read and write. Play the tape, and students write the words. Whole class spells the words to remember them.

5. Enjoy a story of a bird.

Hi! I am a yellow bird.

I have big eyes and small feet.

One day, I go to a park.

I see a waterfall.

Oh,no!

I fall into the waterfall.

Oh, it s so dark.

I can t see the park.

I hear a dog bark.

Opps…

I have to call my mum now.

After the story, let students find “al” and “ar”.

1. Read and spell the words on page 26.

2. Find the words of ar and al around you and spell them.
