

（一）常见并列连词有and, or, but, for, both, either, etc.

1．“and”用来连接对等的句子，短语或句子

『例』 Sam enjoys tennis, table tennis and basketball.

The weather became colder and colder.

He stood up and went out of the classroom.

注意：祈使句后连接and,有条件句作用。

『例』 Go straight on, and you'll see the library.

=If you go straight on, you'll see the library. 

2．“or”作“或、否则”之意。

『例』 He doesn't like dumplings or noodles.

They must start at once, or it will be late. 

3．“but”表示转折，意为“但是”

『例』 He is poor, but he is honest. 

4．Both...and...表示“两者都...”

『例』 Exercise is good both for body and for mind. 

5．Either...or...表示“不是...就是...”

『例』 You must come either on Monday or on Tuesday. I am too busy to see you any other day.

6．Neither...nor...表示“既不...也不...”

『例』 Neither Tom nor I am going to attend the meeting. 

7．Not only...but also...表示“不但...而且...”

『例』 Not only he but also his parents were kind to me. 

注意：含有or, either...or, neither...nor, not only...but also 的句子，其谓语动词的形式以及相关的代词的人称和数应服从于最靠近它的短语。 

（二）常见的从属连词有that, if, when, though, because,

so...that...etc.

1．that引导宾语从句

『例』 He told me that he had been to Hangzhou twice. 

2．if引导条件状语从句，注意与whether区别

『例』 I'll invite her to the concert if Mary calls.

I don't know whether he will come or not. 

3．when, while, before, after, as soon as, since, not…until…etc.引导时间状语从句(注意when与while区别)

『例』 I'll come when I'm free.

He entered the room while his mother was cooking.

Did you learn Chinese before you came to China?

I arrived after she left.

I'll tell him about it as soon as he comes.

Li Ming has learned many English words since he came here.

He knew nothing about it until I told him. 

4．because用来引导原因状语从句

『例』 She didn't come to school because she was ill yesterday. 

5．so...that引导结果状语从句

『例』 He went so early that he got a good seat.

It is so small that we can't see it.=It is too small for us to see. 

6．though, although引导让步状语从句

『例』 Though he was tired, he kept on working.

注意：though, although引导的从句不能与but连用，但可与yet, still连用。

7．as, as if引导方式状语从句

『例』 Do just as I told you.

The old worker runs very fast as if he were a young man. 

8．as...as, not so...as, than, the...,the...引导比较状语从句

『例』 I know you better than she does.

The more you practise, the more knowledge you will get.

He works as carefully as she.

 
