pulsedfibrelasersystemsisrestrictedduetononlineareffects.Hence,fibredesignsthatallowforverylargemodeareasathighaveragepowerswithdiffraction-limitedbeamqualityareofenormousinterest.Ytterbium-doped,rod-type,large-pitchfibres(LPF)enableextremefibredimensions,i.e.,effectivesingle-modefibreswithmodesizesexceeding100timesthewavelengthoftheguided
