London 2012 Changing Places Programme –

Community Fund Application Form

Guidance Notes

The Changing

Places programme will use the power of the Games to secure

lasting environmental and social

improvements.

The Community Fund will help

communities surrounding the

Olympic

Park* to undertake their own projects

with the aid of small grants. We are looking for exciting

and innovative projects that will

enhance the local area in time for

the summer of 2012.

Successful

applications will demonstrate

how a small injection of money from the Community Fund will

help the

enthusiasm and energy of local people to transform their local area.

Please indicate in section 5.1 of the

application form whether you would

like the project to be considered for

the Inspire programme*.

Please note that the name or title of the project should not include any of the following: ‘Olympic’, ‘Olympian’, ‘Olympiad’, ‘Paralympic’, ‘Paralympian’, ‘London 2012’ or ‘2012’.

Section 1 – About You

We need to know about you and the people that will be undertaking the project. We need to know if you are part of an established organisation with a formal constitution, or whether you are simply a group of residents that want to make a difference to your neighbourhood.

Applications must come from not-for-profit organisations, and relate to projects that will be located within the host borough authorities. The host boroughs are listed below left.

Please provide us with information about who we should contact if we need to ask questions or obtain further information. He or she should be contactable during normal office hours and complete the signed declaration.

Section 2 – About the Project

In section 2 we would like you to provide some basic information about your project. Please tell us about the aim of your project, explaining what will be done and how it will be undertaken. We also need to understand how your project will benefit the community.

For new projects we would like to know when you propose to start the project, whilst for existing projects we will need to know when the new/additional activities that the fund will support, will begin.

Please also supply details about the site/s that you will look to enhance. We would like to know:

The location of your site or sites including where possible

postcode

what the site is like

approximately how big the site is

what are the problems affecting the site

In this section we would also like to know about the people who will help you to undertake the project. This should relate to the majority of the group rather than listing specific inpiduals.

In the delivery of your project it is presumed that time will be given voluntarily by members of your group. It would be good for

us to understand how many hours are likely to be given to the community.

If your project will involve children, young people or vulnerable adults, it is your responsibility to have acceptable child protection and vulnerable adult policies and procedures in place. Anyone working with children, young people or vulnerable adults should have appropriate Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance.

Section 3 – Making it Happen

In this section we would like you to explain in more detail how your project will be delivered. Please tell us how the project will be managed in terms of deciding what will happen when, and the details of how you will know if the project has been successful.

3.1 Please tell us what the activities are that will be undertaken, what will happen, and who will be doing it

3.2 Please tell us how the project will be managed. You may wish to highlight who, if different to yourself, will oversee the delivery of the project, and what you will do to ensure the project is delivered to the timescales and budget listed within this application form

3.3 Please outline the ways that you will know that the project has been successful and achieved the aim outlined in section 2

Financial Information

Should your application be successful, section 4 will help us to get the money to you. We need to know if your group has a bank account, who are the authorised signatories for the group, and any evidence of the financial management of

London 2012 Inspire Programme

In completing your application form you may want to consider whether you would also like to be considered for the London 2012 Inspire Programme. The Inspire Programme will feature a mix of projects from communities across the UK that have been inspired by London hosting the Games in 2012. Successful applications to the Community Fund will receive a

sustained. Please provide details of any sources of funding that you know you will apply for to continue the project

3.5 You can apply for up to £1000 per project. Please provide a breakdown of how you propose to use the money that you are applying for. Where possible this should be broken down into specific items e.g. ‘project tools’ or ‘plants and seeds’ etc.
