? 第三节 表语从句

● 概述：在句子中担当主句的表语，和主语指同一内容，它对主语进行解释、说明，使主语的内容

具体化

（一）由从属连词（that, whether）引导：

? The problem is whether we should ask them for help. 问题是我们是否请他们帮忙。

? The trouble is that he has never done the work before. 麻烦在于他以前从未干过这个工作。

（二）由连接代词（what, which）引导：

? She is not what she used to be. 她不再是过去的那个她了。

? What I mean is which song you like best. 我的意思是说你最喜欢哪首歌。

（三）由连接副词（when, how, why）引导：

? This is when I really got to know the United States. 这时我才真正认识了美国。

? The question was how the bird got out of the cage. 问题是鸟儿怎么从笼子里出去的。 ? That’s why he didn’t pass the exam. 那就是他考试不及格的原因。

（四）由as if, as though, because引导：

● 概述：宾语从句在复合句中可作及物动词的宾语，也可作介词和某些形容词的宾语 一、宾语从句的形式

（一）及物动词后的宾语从句

◎ 由从属连词that, if, whether引导： ? Mike said that he was feeling ill. 迈克说他觉得不舒服。

? I don’t know if / whether Hardin will come.

我不知道哈丁是否会来。

◎ 由连接代词what, which, who, whose及wh-ever引导： ? They want to know what they can do to help us. 他们想知道他们能做些什么来帮助我们。 ◎ 由连接副词why, where, when, how引导：

? Can you make sure where Alice has put the gold ring? 你能确定艾丽丝把金戒指放在什么地方了吗？

（二）介词后的宾语从句

? She always thinks of how she can improve her spoken English.

她经常考虑如何提高她的英语口语水平。 ? Alisa is sorry for what she said. 阿莉莎对她所说的话表示歉意。

（三）某些形容词后的宾语从句

◎ anxious, sure, glad, happy, certain, afraid等形容词后可接宾语从句 ? I’m anxious whether he will be able to pass the test. 我希望他能通过这个测试。

? We are glad that our team has won the match. 我们很高兴我们队赢了这场比赛。

（四）非谓语动词之后的宾语从句

? On being asked whether he had had any good food in America, he answered “Terrible”. 一问到他在美国是否吃过什么好菜，他就回答说“糟得很”。

? Realizing that it was just a difference in custom, the foreigner smiled and said nothing. 这个外国人知道了这只是风俗上的不同后，就笑了笑，没说什么。

（五） whether与if的使用情况

● 关联词if和whether均可使用的情况

◎ 引导宾语从句时两者都可使用

? I wonder if / whether what he said is true or not. 我想知道他说的是真还是假。

◎ 在“be＋形容词”之后两者都可使用

? He was not sure if / whether it is right or wrong. 他没有把握是对还是错。

● 只能用whether而不能用if表示“是否”的情况

◎ 在表语从句和同位语从句中只能用whether ? The question is whether the film is worth seeing. 问题是这部电影是否值得一看。

◎ 在主语从句中只能用whether，但it作形式主语时除外 ? Whether the news is true remains a question. 这个消息是否真实仍然是个问题。

◎ 在介词之后，有时介词可以省略时只能用whether ? It all depends (on) whether they will support us. 完全在于他们是否支持我们。 ◎ 后面紧跟or not时只能用whether

? We didn’t know whether or not she was ready.

我们不知道她是否准备好了。

◎ 后面直接跟动词不定式时只能用whether ? He hasn’t decided whether to leave or stay. 他还没决定是离开还是留下。

● 关联词只能用if或whether，不能用that的情况

◎ doubt一词作“怀疑”讲，并接宾语从句时，主句为肯定句用if或whether ? I doubt if / whether he will come soon. 我怀疑他是否马上到。

◎ doubt一词作“怀疑”讲，并接宾语从句时，主句为否定句或疑问句用that ? Do you doubt that she will take part in the show? 你怀疑她会参加表演吗？

二、引导词it代表宾语从句

● 在“及物动词＋宾语＋宾语补足语”结构中，为平衡句子结构，通常用it作形式宾语，而将真

正的宾语从句置于宾语补足语的后面

? I think it necessary that we should do more practice in English learning. 我认为在学英语时多联系是必要的。

? One often hears it said that travel broadens the mind. 人们常常听说旅行可以使人心胸开阔。

三、宾语从句的时态和语序

（一）宾语从句的时态主要取决于主句的时态

● 主句使用现在时，从句允许使用任何时态。从句时态可与主句一致，也可由从句中的时间状语自

行决定

? I think she will come in time. 我想她会准时来的。

● 主句使用一般过去时，从句除表示“真理”可使用现在时态外，一律使用过去时态

? He told us once again that the situation was serious. 他又一次告诉我们说形式严峻。

? My brother told me that the earth is round. 我哥哥告诉我说地球是圆的。

（二）宾语从句使用陈述语序

● 名词性从句一律使用陈述语序，宾语从句也应使用陈述语序

? Do you know why we have put off the sports meet till next week? 你知道我们为什么把运动会推迟到下星期吗？

四、否定转移

● 动词think, believe, suppose, expect等引导否定含义的宾语从句时，要把否定结构前移

? I don’t believe they will come here.

我相信他们不会来这里。

● 概述：在复合句中与先行词同位或等同的从句 ● 成分：一般由that, whether等连次引导
