Survey：

On an average day, nearly everyone age 15 and over (95 percent)/ engaged in some sort of leisure activity, such as watching TV, socializing, or exercising. Of those who engaged in leisure activities, men spent more time in these activities (5.9 hours) than did women (5.2 hours).

Men were more likely than women to participate in sports, exercise, or recreation on any given day--21 percent compared with 16 percent. On the days that they participated, men also spent more time in these activities than did women--1.9 hours compared with 1.3 hours.

Employed adults living in households with no children under age 18 engaged in leisure activities for 4.5 hours per day, about an hour more than employed adults living with a child under age 6.

Sports：

? Large numbers of Americans watch and participate in sports activities, which are a deeply ingrained part of American life. Americans use sports to express interest in health and fitness and to occupy their leisure time. Sports also allow Americans to connect and identify with mass culture. Americans of all classes, races, sexes, and ages participate in sports activities—from toddlers in infant swimming groups and teenagers participating in school athletics to middle-aged adults bowling or golfing and older persons practicing t’ai chi. ? American enjoy soccer, and they will gather together and watch the Super Bowl.

Family Activities

Celebrations and holidays:

? Americans celebrate an enormous variety of festivals and holidays because they come from around the globe and practice many religions. They also celebrate holidays specific to the United. Holidays in America are often family or community events. Many Americans travel long distances for family gatherings or take vacations during holidays. In fact, by the end of the 20th century, many national holidays in the United States had become three-day weekends, which many people used as mini vacations. Because many Americans tend to create vacations out of these holiday weekends rather than celebrate a particular event, some people believe the original significance of many of these occasions has been eroded.

Family Reunion:

? A family reunion is an occasion when many members of an extended family get together. Sometimes reunions are held regularly, for example on the same date of every year. Many social groups, including churches, observe National Family Reunion Month in the month of July.

? A typical family reunion will assemble both grandparents, great-grandparents. The older attendees are generally grandparents, parents, siblings or first cousins. It is also not uncommon for regular family reunions to be sponsored by family organizations or family associations centered around a more distant common or a commonly shared surname.

? Traditional family reunion activities include an afternoon luncheon or early evening dinner and program featuring music, song, poetry reading, history recitals, honorary recognition of elders, community contributions and educational achievements. Some reunions include historic skits where members reenact pivotal points in a family’s history. The meaning behind family traditions are shared while relaying important family history factoids and the ties that bind.

Outdoor Activities:

Every family will go on a sightseeing tour at least once per year. They go travelling, adventure, camping, visiting their relatives and so on. Meanwhile, they get special travelling websites for them to programme.
