Putting on a play

Lead-in:

Have you ever seen dramas either on TV or in a theatre? Do you enjoy seeing dramas? Have you imagined acting in dramas? Today, you will have a chance to experience dramas!

Welcome to our drama class!

Five students are performing the play “The invisible bench”. Read the play quickly, and answer the following questions.

Is there a bench in the courtyard? What does the word “invisible” mean? Is this a comedy? Why or why not? What do you think the playwright wants to tell us? Besides the physical style, there are four main types of stand-up comedy. They are observational, prop, physical and impressionist.

Toilet paper.Because he was a king and he says that he wants important papers. The others would mistake them for some official documents. How many characters are there in the play? Who do you think is the main character/ hero in the play? What does the King actually want? Why are the others unable to understand him?

It is in the style of prop. Actors use the prop---toilet paper and some other papers to perform the play. In what style of stand-up comedy is this play? How does the playwright make the play funny? The playwright uses a play upon words--important paper and toilet paper--- to make people laugh.
