The new synchronous servo motors –compact, reliable and highlydynamic

The stator winding has been created bycombining individual coils in the newSEpT (Single ElementPole Technology)design. High-quality magnetic materialsand specially designed poles provide therequired conditions for excellentdrivecharacteristics.

The resultcombines a significantincreasein power density with a reduction in massinertia. Minimal detenttorques ensureexcellentconcentricity and therefore opti-mum control characteristics. The robustmechanical structure with reinforced bearings and fully encapsulated statortogether with the high degree of protec-tion increase operational reliability evenin harsh environmental conditions.

The ECS servo system

Servo drives with a high overload capacity designed specifically for multi-axis appli-cations with high dynamics.

The servo system comprises axis modulesand power supply modules which can becombined to an optimised unitfor multi-axis applications. The control tasks andmotion control functions can be splitaccording to the application-specificrequirements between a central control,e.g. an industrial PC, and the ECS servosystem.

A high degree of precision is achievedwhen carrying outmulti-axis co-ordinatedmovements by transferring synchronisedspeed and torque setpoints via the inte-grated Lenze system bus with micro-second accuracy atcycle times below 1 ms. The ECS servo system is thereforeoptimised for gantry systems, robots,

packaging machines or feeding and remo-val devices in handling technology.

System overview

With the automation system componentsfrom Lenze and ECS servo drives, itis verystraightforward to setup a completeautomation system with co-ordinatedinterfaces.

The ETC Motion Control coordinates synchronous motions on multiple axes –ranging from simple positioning tasks to3D path control – and can be program-med using the IEC61131-3 compliantlanguages.

With the IP20 I/O system itis possible toimplementadditional input/outputter-minals. We recommend the compactsystem for applications with only a fewI/O points, as itprovides a fixed numberof digital inputs and outputs. If you needto automate more complex applications,then we can offer a complete I/O portfo-lio with gateway, electronic modules andbackplane bus.

Textdisplays, graphic displays or touch-screens offer safe and easy ways to

operate and monitor the machine. Lenzeoffers a differentiated range of operatingand display units. The standardised integrated developmentenvironmentoptimally integrates displays with theLenze drives, thereby helping to make theprojectplanning process easier for yourparticular application.

All of the system components are compa-tible with the Lenze CAN system bus –which makes iteven easier to integratethe system and avoid interface problems.Of course, a range of power-dependentaccessories such as mains chokes andEMC filters is also available.
